Did all the saws survive?
Yes and no... Dan's 394 developed an air leak. I spent most of the afternoon pulling it apart and putting it back together. Tried to call you and ask if the seal on the saw were new or not... I put a new carb kit in the saw, new plug, added an intake partition, new seals, new flywheel nut which we had to retap/die because getting that thing off was a bloody *b-word .... btw, for anyone that wants to know, 1/8 NPT tap/die works for a husky 394 crank in a pinch. I fired it at the end of the day, but it was dark. It sounded like it was better. I think the flywheel side seal was dissintegrating. ....the rubber seemed to be old.
I was gonna run it against my 394 but it got dark next time.
To everyone else .... wow. What a day. I don't know what everyone else's life experience has been, but the unique thing about a day like today is that no matter what time you get up, or what time you go to bed, the day starts with a smile, and ends with a smile. Dan and Yulia do a wonderful job hosting and have a great spot for it. So many people did such a great job cooking, Mels (we missed you Cindy!), Dr Al, Marcello's wife etc. I didn't lack for food or drink all day. Perfect.
Lee's big saws are simply unparalleled. How interesting to run stuff that is now mostly part of history. Some of his saws are still relevant today, echo 1201, husky 3120, 088/ 880 etc..... and some are just for fun. That big yellow thing I had to double plug for .... what was interesting about running some of these big ones for me was that I came away with the sense that my ported 394 is as big as I will ever be able to handle or need, and though the big saws are fun, they just don't suit me. .... which is a huge benefit of the gtg.... find out what ya like.
Lee, thanks so much for bringing your stuff and for bringing Brandy. Nice to finally meet you both.
deets dall jmssaws mopar?... thanks for sending your stuff. always adds a different dynamic to have other goodies at the gtg other than what us locals bring. i'm not sure I got to run any of them! I was fixin stuff most of the day lol
To the rest of the guys that showed up, what an awesome time. Love talking with guys and learning.
To huskyboy and his dad, I'm sorry I didn't get to hang out with you guys ... next time. (btw, huskyboy likely cut more cookies than the rest of us combined lol .... maybe except for mustangmike )
End of day conversation is always the icing on the cake, and I wish I stayed longer, but I was nearly falling asleep at the wheel on the way home, and I'm glad I came home when I did.
Compliation video will be worked on asap. Take care gents (and 2 ladies) and thanks again!
