I've been having tons of fun buying, working on, and sometimes selling a few saws here and there.
Most of my transaction are local, yet lately I'm stating to branch out farther to find deals.
Seems as if the good deals are longer distances away.

Looks like I'm going to have to set a mileage limit on my road trips though.
Yet, there's this tempting 044 owned by an elderly couple...300 miles AWAY!!!:crybaby2:
Talked them down from $450 to $200...supposedly sat in their storage room for a few yrs, yet still cranks!!:dancer2:

What is you guys boundaries concerning chainsaws and road-trips?
What has been the longest road-trip you've taken for a chainsaw or saws?
What has been your greatest rewards & your most disappointing trip?

YIKES!!!"an 064 & 066 for $300...in TOGO, AFRICA!!":tiburon:

My partner and I just picked these up on a 6 hour round trip that started as a trip to the local scrap yard.
As there were no saws at the yard, the owner said there was a two man at a place in mountain home. Well we never made it to mountain home, but stopped st 4 random places and found 3 we could buy. I went over my daily saw budget, but still happy!image.jpegmac 10-10 runs!
Mac 300 runs!
And Fleetwood Bulldog is tore down for complete resto.
I will drive or ride around aimlessly for saws anytime. Come pick me up! I got the gas money. Bring your truck, I can smell saws when I pass by!

I drove an hour and 15 minutes to pick up a pristine 026. It is in brand new condition. Well worth the trip. Like $20 fuel shipping charges and my time. AND, I got to look the saw over before I bought it.

I did the exact same thing for the exact same saw, 3 chains, Can't Hook, T Wrench, Owners Manuel, and spark plug! :campeon:

Togo? I've sent a couple chainsaws to Togo. A Husqvarna 455 and 445. Where in Togo? I know some people there...

The farthest I've driven "just" for chainsaws is probably 90 minutes. However, I have purchased chainsaws all over the USA while I've been traveling for other reasons. Used to read every CL along my route and stop here and there as I could make contacts.

I used to drive maple syrup out to Washington and California in my pickup. I'd pull up the farm and garden section of Craigslist everywhere I went.

On the best trip I came home with a Shindaiwa 488 and a Farmi 351 skidding winch. I still use both of them pretty often.

I live in a rural area near a large metro area and a lot of the good deals are on the other side of the city. Portland traffic sucks so a lot of times it's a 3 hour round trip. I've kinda given up on that and either buy from here or limit my searches to my local area. I also check Craigslist every time I have to travel to a different area. My wife loves that when we're on vacation. One time I had to figure out how to bring an 090 home from vacation.

Great feedback.
Just heard back from the 044 folks, they do have a PayPal account & are willing to ship or to drive about 80 miles closer.
What would you guys do?
I'm headed to the USPS page now to see how much shipping an 044 w/bar & chain is??? :P ???
