Yes, I like it. Where'd you get that, Adam?
Some company moded chainsaw power head to be a concrete cutter. They cheap out by keeping the original clutch and drum configuration and made this to drive belts.Yes, I like it. Where'd you get that, Adam?
yep. That is the Stihl 076 version of concrete saw which is.. TS760 or something?
That thing has a built-in planetary gear reduction. Pretty neat.Is it done yet?
My take. I think chain or belt drive is a better way to go than direct crank drive because it allows you to bring some mechanical advantage via gearing in. Saw peak torque at 9000 crank rpm might be too fast a feed speed for the winch arbor?
Well that definitely makes a difference other Adam. That thing has a built-in planetary gear reduction. Pretty neat.
I can’t say enough about these little rascals. View attachment 294070View attachment 294071

Nice. I’ve seen his other chainsaw powered videos. I think I’m leaning towards using gearing to increase torque and slow the rate of pull in case something gets caught up or breaks while pulling.Dan,you neither need a 372XP,nor a 3120XP unless you plan to move an excavator.I am watcing this guy and he is quite awsome.I don't know what your machinist skills are or if you can have access to special tools like a lathe or a column drill (i am not sure if i'm saying it right) but this build seems very easy.He is using a Makita EA4300F and as you will see,it is quite powerfull.Check him out:
Double braided polyester. 1500 lb. straight line pull strength. The wench cost $975.That’s super nice, but not in the budget right now. What kind of rope do you use with the capstan?
How to gear the speed down is quite a question. Gears are always better.
