Scored a ‘no-brand’, cast iron, griddle, at Goodwill, yesterday, for about $5.

Cleaned up pretty well, without having to strip it.

I like that it’s slightly larger (1/2” wider; 1-1/2” longer) than the smaller, Lodge brand griddle, which doesn’t quite cover the burners on my stove.

(Photo is with burner grates removed for cleaning).

Picked up a CI pan I wanted to clean: remove surface rust, remove sharp casting edges, etc.

One, small piece, so I tried the ‘oven-cleaner-in-a-bag’ method of stripping.

Kind of a mess to spray with the can held vertically, inside the trash bag, the fumes, etc.

It worked, but not as fast, or as well, as the lye tank. I assume because the pan is submerged in the lye tank, and the oven cleaner can run off?

Anyway, the lye tank takes a little longer to set up (and can do multiple pans), but is less work overall, due to less residual scrubbing.

Finished pan, after 3 coats with Crisbee Puck.

A few more, recent, Goodwill finds.

#8 skillet: no markings, except for ‘8’. Looks similar to the Birmingham Stove Works style. Very smooth interior.

Lodge Pro griddle. They had 2: this one was $5 less than the clean one, but, since I’m likely to strip it anyway . . .

A ‘Food Network’ branded French skillet: has a rounded transition at the edges, and lower sides. Pretty lightweight too.

A few more, and maybe, I’ll set up another stripping tank.

The #8 is a 3 notch Lodge. Nice find.

Is there a strong demand for vintage cast iron cookware in the US?......Vintage cast iron camp ovens in Australia bring a premium!... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/583184654856847/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp:44d75ced-555b-4
And...
There are some serious collectors in THE USA. That price is a collector price.

Those prices are now typical here for any locally made vintage ovens..... There are only one or two foundries still casting ovens here and a new 16" oven will cost around $500-.....Most if not all outdoor / sporting shops only sell the cheap ($30-) Chinese ovens now.

Wilhelm, you are always cooking up something good!
I try to aim at good, but am happy with good enough for whom it's for. ;)

I held back with content & spices so my mom can eat from it.
Sadly she has severe digestive issues with anything that may cause bloating.

I'll do a pumpkin cream soup this PM/evening, it will have anything I can come up with in it including hot spices.
