Anybody here ever have carpal tunnel surgery? I have it pretty.bad in my right hand, having surgery tomorrow. From what I understand the recovery isn't too bad but can take about a year.

My aunt had it after years of working an admin job for a local mill. She said the surgery wasn't too bad but she had residual soreness in that hand and wrist for about three months. Later on, she would get tingling in that hand, like someone was brushing it with a comb.

Thanks. I already have the numbness and tingling so I figure its worth a try. I'm really, really hoping that it improves my overall sh!tty rifle and pistol marksmanship.
Avoided the surgery with therapy. Still do the stretches 12 years later when I feel the need. Sleep in splints every night.

Good luck with the surgery and wishing you a speedy recovery. Hopefully your right hand it not your dominant wiping hand, that could get awkward until you get the hang of it 🤣

Had it done for the same reasons as you in 2018. Was done under local anesthesia. Interesting what the OR crew talk about while working. No problems with surgery or recovery. Had to wear a gel hand brace for a few weeks. Wished I had done it sooner. Good luck, speedy recovery.

Unfortunately I am well acquainted with this issue. Some years back I had to have my right wrist fused and let's just say neither the surgeon nor any of the physical therapists cared to mention that reaching parts of the ol' backside could be compromised. I'll never forget the first morning after the cast was off and I went to do things as usual--except there was no way that was going to work. Despite being very motivated it was still a challenge to develop a new technique after decades of experience and muscle memory.

To the OP I wish you a thorough and uneventful recovery.

I tweaked my back one time and it was a challenge to twist far enough to reach properly...sitting there looking around to see if there is anything nearby that might be used to help out without making a mess...
