I have a Craftsman model 358.350880, Poulan made saw that needs the carb adjusted because it bogs down. Looking at the mixture adjustments, they seem to be 24 spline since I could 6 splines per 1/4 of it. Is 24 spline possible?

Would this saw have a Walbro? It has an ID stamped right in the middle of the diaphragm cover, though I can't read it.

There's a bunch of plastic frame holding down the carb, that also blocks a lot of the view, which seems to require a lot (removing throttle valve, etc) to remove it, so I haven't.

I did read this:
"Notice: the plined tool is designed to adjust ZAMA carburetors, it won't fit WALBRO carburetors which may need a 22-teeth tool. tool is updated from previous 7-teeth to current 21-teeth, better quality"

Exactly. That's why I asked the questions I did, to try to figure out which one I need.

Get Yourself the 8 pcs. carb tool set, it's under 15$ on eBay with carrying pouch.

I did, waiting for it to arrive.

I would need to check how many splines on the driver. I have the amazon 15 dollar deal. It fits most but not all. 21 tooth is just labeled splined. It has the 7 tooth in it also. If the new needle has 21 spaces for the wrench to sit in I'd be pretty confident that's the one you'd need

Does anyone know which tool I need? I'm not sure the set would even work, if it's only 21 tooth, because some ads say:
"Notice: the plined tool is designed to adjust ZAMA carburetors, it won't fit WALBRO carburetors which may need a 22-teeth tool."
And mine appears to have 24.

There are single tools for ~$2. It would be nice to find one of those that would work.

Does anyone know if mine would be 22 tooth? Is 24 tooth even possible?

It sounds like ur overthinkin this to me. Spend the $8-10 and get the kit (or one similar) shown above and it will take care of everything you need. I cant imagine trying to accurately count splines on a tiny little carb screw.

No, I'm not. If it weren't for kits on ebay, you'd have to know how many splines so you know which tool to get. Most of the tools specify the number of teeth, so I don't think it's crazy to figure out how many teeth you need. I figured surely someone would know the answer to this. As I said above, the kit might not have what I need. And why spend $10 when single ones are $2.
