For the folks that have one- can you give me some recommendations on one to get. I am only gonna use it now and then so I would like a budget one-- but of course a good one for the money- $100 or less preferred.

I've had a Teslong for about 5 years that I've used a lot for inspecting gun barrels. Haven't used it on a saw but don't know why it wouldn't work. Got it off Amazon. You can get a cheap one and use it with your phone or laptop screen, or a $50+ that has a screen.

I have both, one of the early Wi-Fi ones that hook up to a phone or pad (the lens got screwed up somehow so…) and one of the articulating ones with its own screen. I do prefer the new one as it is easy to snake around stuff looking inside the crankcase via the intake port. On larger saws I don’t have to remove the carb. Pics and vids load to a mini card that you plug into your computer for download. Mine doesn’t have its own Wi-Fi upload capability.

Got it on AZ a year or so back. Now they have dozens of different ones. I think I paid in the $120 range. The one I got is a tad larger diameter than some newer ones. I think you can get one down to 3mm now. The Sm Engine guy in AU did a writeup on what he has.

These are excellent until you smash the end in a cylinder while turning an engine over (don’t ask me how I know). 69 dollars in July but not available from that seller anymore. Get one that looks just like this with the knob on the side and it should work fine. IMG_0762.jpeg

Do any of those have a full spec sheet? What is the camera diameter?

Oh, I wasn’t thinking about using a borescope on saws. I can normally see what I want through the spark plug hole, and if not the muffler comes off easily. I have used a borescope exclusively on larger OPE engines.

My biggest issue with my cheapo is that the last 3cm is rigid, so it doesn’t fit around corners well at all. If the end was moldable to hook into a port I would use it more. Still pretty great for checking transfer timing, chamfers etc.

I never thought of using a scope to check transfer timing more accurately. Good idea.

I currently have a Deptech and use the phone with app. It's does a decent job and has a very small diameter endoscope, but it's time for an upgrade.
I'm impressed with Vevor's quality for the money and I'm going to upgrade to the Vevor articulating version with screen.

$34 Non-Articulating:

$82 Articulating - 180 degrees:
I have the same one and it’s been plenty good for anything I’ve needed saw related, the adjustable light brightness is nice.
