Have a WT426 carb from a 026 I wonder if I can use on my Partner 5000plus.? There are two issues though, the 026 carb has a "snorkle" that goes into the airfilter, and an impulse tube from bottom plate that my Partner carb don't have. So the questions: Can I swap the partner top-plate from the partner to the stihl carb, and cut off and plug the impulse tube in bottom plate? (Since those bottom-plates don't interchange) 🙂

As long as everything looks like it will work why not?? I'm not familiar with the 5000 but the 026 carb does not have a choke plate. You'll have to figure out how to get impulse to the carb. Probably can drill the carb if it comes through the intake block on the Partner. Pics would help...

You can swap the covers on the 026 carbs for ones that don't have the impulse and smart carb filter reference, or cut them off and plug them as needed. I'm not sure about the WT426, but I have drilled the impulse passage on the WT194 before, it is already cast in.
The 5000 doesn't have a choke plate in the carb either, so that isn't an issue, HOWEVER, in talking to guys who have been building race saws for many years, the stock carb is supposed to be plenty. I personally haven't ported anything with that carb yet, but I am running a HDA120 off of a 262 on my Hyway closed port 028 super piston 55, I ran out of carb with the stock Zama it had.

Since it's been mentioned I'm in the process restoring two 49 cc Partners .500 and 5000 plus which from what I see are the same saws .Rumor has the 5000 plus when it was made was the fastest 3 cuber made in that time period .I have no idea if a Partner filter will bolt up to the Stihl carb nor weather that would make any difference in how it ran .However the choke is indeed built into the filter housing

I have a Partner 500 with a ported Husqvarna closed port 55 cylinder, I used the 55 carb but bored it out and drilled the main jet. It's plenty of carb for that saw. I'm sure you could make it fit with a little work but if you have a 55 carb, it might be an easier job.
This is mine with the 55 carb.

A little more on this .At least 12 or more years ago I ran a 5000 Plus at the saw races at Chardon Ohio . It was a gasser ..My bud Kevin who owned it had an alkie burner that had I think either a 272 or 372 Husqvarna carb .He obviously out ran me but also won the 3 cube class in West Virginia .Keep in mind though it takes 40 percent more rocket fuel than it does gasoline to produce the same power .Weather a larger carb on a work saw would do any good I really can't say .--more

In my case the plan is getting both running .The second coil I should get today for the 500 ,the 5000 already does run .Then chain them up and give them a go .I may or my not pep one of them up and keep the other stock .I already have a nice 3 cuber,Stihl 024 but these things are cut above them .At my age some times a lighter saw works out better depending on what I'm cutting .I've got wind falls every where like 8 inches and down .Doesn't take long to cut a trailer load . I'll just use the larger saws ,which I have many for the larger wood .
