Best place to find a helmet with a chin strap

You guys saying you can afford a $200 helmet setup (including ear protection and a shield/screen), but can’t afford a $300 helmet are looking at all wrong. They last a long time if you don’t have any incidents, and if you do, wouldn’t it be nice to have some side impact protection in addition to top o the dome coverage? Only the protos has that.
If you climb or work in brush, the no-snag earmuff design is worth its weight in gold in terms of the frustration and repetitive neck strain it saves you.
Buy once, cry once - you only get to die once.
I’m partial to the tactical green, but the high viz green and the red/yellow stand out the most when working with others.

If you use it every day, or write it off as a business expense, the $$ are different. $300 is more than some guys paid for their saw. And some guys will follow the 5-year 'expiration date' on helmets which recive limited amounts of actual use. Mine is for personal use and volunteer work, so harder to justify the big bucks. I appreciate better quality PPE, and have posted on some. But getting stuff that meets basic standards, that guys can afford, and that they will wear, is the first step.

Looking to upgrade the head gear from the Stihl helmet to something that doesn't "squeeze" my head. ( No jokes please! ) Thinking a chin strap is a clue to a better option.

Also should carry "pad" for the saw blade, and a belt mounted way to carry a small axe for a wedge driver.

possible small bar oil & fuel and.

Want to upgrade my "packing in" to work apparel.

If there is a sponsor here selling that type of thing....all ears

i did read it, I can understand what he’s saying, but Philbert has a valid point.

when I brought my ppe it came to about $6\700 the course was $1500 (12 weeks)
I used the colleges climbing gear, but once I passed the course it was another $800 for the ropes and other climbing bits.

it has not worn out yet or things art broken. If and when I replace stuff then it depends on what cash I have at the time.

but if someone wants to buy a new protos or anything else for me. It would gladly be received from the sugar mommy or daddy

Some of the conventional style (front brim, hard hat) helmets also have side impact protection: they are rated as Type II helmets. A bit bulkier than top impact only Type I helmets.

The brimless, climbing style helmets are also nice in thick brush. But the guys in the PNW really like their full-brim helmets!

Skullbuckets Aluminum full brim that Madsens sells has a chin strap.

I wear a protos helmet. Really like it. They are a bit heavy. I cant stand a chin strap so mine always get removed.
