Long story short, I had to have the rear bumper cover repaired/replaced and painted on my Yukon. The paint appears to be a shade off. The garage agreed it has a weird mismatch depending on the angle and light blah blah blah (tried selling it but said there was a mismatch and would make it right).

Am I being to picky? I hate to be "that guy" but it wasn't cheap. Anyone spercalize in auto body paint want to give me their opinion?

GM calls it white diamond tricoat.

Your not being picky. It's normal to be off a little bit, but that's way off. It's way to dark and needs to be redone. That is a three stage color, and by the looks of it their painter might not have experience with it. Bottom line make them fix it no matter what.

Yeah, I am. I told him when I left with it I would be letting him know either way.

I've had them do other work before and have had good results. Like you said, maybe the painter doesn't have the experience with this type of paint. I'll let ya know what happens from here.

Hopefully they get you squared away. After this the painter will have some tri coat experience.

Yes he will. Hopefully hes a quick learner because I'd like my vehicle back. Although, it is keeping some miles off it. They gave me a Fiat 500 to drive in the mean time. Impressive little thing.

Wow from big to little for sure. Probably nice for parking and such.

Hah, yeah. They re-sprayed the paint and got it much closer. To the point that it's not noticeable. No drama, just fixed it.

Pearls are hard to get right. I had a pearlescence white Audi that I dreaded having to paint a panel...

I have painted alot of cars here and anything that is tricoat is a nightmare, that however is way too far off, my wife had an orange neon that was a pain to get right but we did get it and they need to do several spray outs till they find out what matches the best.
