Couple of old US-made Columbians. The swivel one is branded as a Craftsman w/5" jaws. The other Columbian is a 4.5" jaw and mounted to my welding table...also been in the family for 60+ years.

My Custom vise is a tank... the other vise I scored, as work was tossing it out... someday the last vise will go into a cnc mill. Lol

My cousin (CuzzenKen) Born in '41 always told a story (Verified by other older relatives). His Grandpa had a humdinger of an anvil.
He broke the horn off of it. It was so good he forge welded it back together. They gambled as to who could shoot (launch) their anvil into the air, and have it land the closest to the base anvil. His hit the base anvil and broke the horn off when it came back down to earth.
they would have 1 anvil upside down, Face side to the dirt then fill the cavity with black powder and a fuse. Set the other anvil right side up on the powder and fuse and upside down anvil. light the fuse Y'all get the idea. I know this is a vise thread but gambling on powder and anvils was his Grandpas vice And a way to pass time seldom heard of. This was in Brock, Nebraska guessing around very early nineteen hundreds.
