When my 262 got knocked on the head part of the carnage was broken fuel inlet nipple on its 87 carb.
It wasn't holding tune anymore (kept having to richen to try and tune, but would keep leaning. It would idle and transition perfect).
The used replacement nipple seemed a bit loose -- I think I read somewhere once one of these is removed it's best to replace with new.
Plastic part of course broke off, fighting with vise grips for a while broke off inside fitting housing... few choice words later.
Used the technique in this video so I thought I'd share. Soft metal self thread screw but stronger than brass works great. I had to pull out 3 pieces but in the end I got a clean end of the old fitting out w/o the screw going into where it shouldn't (flush with end of fitting).
Pictures -- hopefully I didn't wreck the housing too bad, each portion of brass the outer part is still smooth (except of course the part that is on the outside that I ended up ripping off w/ vise grips).
New parts from e-replacement parts right off carb IPL from 1991 262 looks exactly right.
Going to clean the housing the fitting gets pressed into w/ a cue tip moistened w/ a little fuel or whatever to make sure no brass chunks -- the last part on the long unbroken screw came out very clean... hopefully I've saved my 87 to run right another day. Extra 87 inlet has your name on it @drf255 Al !
Any of you guys use permatex when installing these? I'm hoping I can use a simple clamp to press the new one in, but it's at a bit of a whacky angle I'm hoping I don't have an issue there.
