Does anyone know how much if any silver is used in the construction of battery saws? Already overpriced imho...

Anyone tore down a junker yet?

I'm reading there's trace amounts in much larger ev batteries. Next gen ev batteries are expected to require about 20 grams of silver in small car 40kwh batteries. 83.3 amh= 1kwh. Gram of silver is less than 3 USD. Grand total of little to no silver now or never in a saw battery.

There is not enough silver to be worth even researching it if your inquiring about harvesting value.
There is actually more gold value in the BCS and BCM circuity of a quality lithium battery pack and that is only a microscopic amount as well.

I am not thinking anything along those lines. Don't have, nor intend to own a battery saw.

I'm just thinking of the move toward and then the prices skyrocketing because of materials cost.

There are plenty of other major factors involved in determining the cost of making a battery pack and motors.

IMO Lithium batteries are going to be replaced in the next few years by something more efficient. The next metal/mineral variation has got to be much higher efficiency along with far cheaper and less environmentally impactful on both ends of the system. Our current lithium batteries are a terrible option in those terms. Saline or aluminum core will more then likely be the next gen as those components are cheap and abundant. If we can get a better solar panel efficiency, like 70-80% and not the current 25-ish% Along with a fast charge, long duration, long life batteries all on the cheap thats when things will actually change because of results seen by the consumer and not marketed skewed fluffed numbers.

Silver was used in super high efficiency generators windings like +100 years ago. I think the US wanted to use some kind of silver wire alloy for the Hoover Dam...?

I assume we stopped using silver for wires because unlike copper, silver actually sees molecularly degradation over time when high current is running through it. We probably didnt have tests to show it back in the turn of the 1900s :confundio1:
