Are the aftermarket air filters on eBay any good?

One single air filter from the dealer is $15.99. Application is the Stihl FS 91 R trimmer.

I bought an aftermarket filter and housing for my Husky 272, looked good, seemed to fit good, but ended up being a little larger in one spot causing it to pucker and pull in fines. Sometimes the AM stuff is spot on, other times, it might be a slight bit too big or too small. Buying OEM while a little more expensive, guaranteed to fit. AM - crapshoot, some good, some not so good.

I didn't know whether or not the OEM and aftermarket were made by the same people. The OEM says "Turkey" on the filter.

Fleabay and Slamazon is filled with aftermarket filters that are a "bargain". Apparently there is a flourishing market for bogus filters that have gone to great lengths to appear to be OEM. This fraud seems to be common in Fleetgard Filters for Cummins diesel motors. The filter elements are NOT top quality and have a tendency to fail early and often, taking a 10k motor with them.
Buyer beware.

We are a Rotary dealer and I've been happy with their parts overall. I've used those filters and they're fine.
