I will purchase membership
I started out on Aboristsite and did not get the membership, ads were plentiful. I came here and because of the people and the content, felt (and feel) that the membership is worth it, to both support the site and block the ads!

edit: forgot to say thanks to the everyone who keeps this place operational!
Whenever things get too bad with my stuff? I'm guilty of pulling the thumb drive that boots this and just wiping it and going for a fresh install sometimes.

Sometimes a web page can drop something on your device that will redirect your browser to a F-ton of adverts.
Might want to see if whoever made the device offers a way to clean out infections like that.

I'm not having problems with this site at this point. i still see some ads at the top of page and occasionally in other areas of the page.
I'm running a laptop, Linux os, Firefox browser. Spectrum for internet service.
Got some adverts and Tracking stuff somewhat blocked by browser ad-ons.
Somehow the "right click function" protection ad-ons don't seem to work like they used to.

Youtube still always wins the chitty web page award for choking a computer.
Adobe Acrobat used to take top honors. That damned software got to be larger than the operating system and stayed open to attack. Took up more resources than the Operating system also.
I banished Adobe reader from all of my devices a decade ago and went to an older version of "Foxit Reader". Even re-burned CDs of any software, after editing Adobe out of them.
Been happy with that decision ever since.

Starting to forget the great majority of what little that I knew about this stuff though.

Weird, I run Firefox on both Linux, Windows and Android and don't get any ads even when logging off of my account. Just the normal banner at the top with HL, Duke's and the others. I also prefer Foxit over Adobe.

Yeah. I've got the half dozen small banners at the top of page. They aren't jumping or flipping/changing, So they get left alone.
Those sticky floaters that move down a page as you scroll, get hit with the blocker if I plan to visit that site again.
Love the ones that are just puff pieces claiming to be news stories, with loud audio. Especially when I've already got an active music stream cranked up a little bit.
Yes, I run an old school stereo with floor sized speakers for PC audio. I do like finding good video to watch and it's more about the good sound for me!
"Day of the Jackal" (British series) does a fine job with The Who "Won't get fooled again" for the 3rd episode ending. But watch all three episode to get the reason.

Interesting. I mostly visit OPE on my phone and that’s where I was getting a full shut down. I’m accustomed to the drop-down adds that take up half the screen. This was much worse. A small video in the center of a monotone background that covered the entire window except the navigation bar at the bottom. The video plays and then just sits there. No option to close it and it doesn’t go away after it has played. There is a click button below the video that says “visit advertiser” or something similar. There is a tiny translucent question mark in the top left. I clicked that and it took me to a google ads explainer page in a new window. If I refresh the page, a new one immediately pops up when the page loads. I was only able to post here because if you turn your phone sideways the add goes away. Sorry, I knew I should have taken a screen shot, but I didn’t. I have a feeling google was using OPE to beta test reel adds.

I certainly do appreciate all the work of the staff here. Thanks for the rapid response.

You were referring to the ads in past tense. Are they better now?

Not covering page now that you asked when it happens there is nowhere to close adds. Screenshot in pictures is between one post.
Google does it automatically so I don't know where you are seeing it. Can dyou provide a screenshot?
Here you go adds between posts every post no problem to scroll through them. Just annoying.
Yesterday they popped up when trying to post in the for sale column with no way to close them like others said. Not happening now. I’ll go try to make a post.
