I was gifted a SSR 125 for my son, but he is a bit too small to kick start the bike and I am trying to find out if there is a reasonably simplistic way to add an electric starter.
Ideas?
Ideas?
Thanks. It sounds like there was an electric start model but they use completely different cases from the kick start models.

I appreciate your insight on this, but I think it a matter of him not yet having the strength to kick it over. It started after the second or third kick for me last night and it hadn`t been started in months prior to that. I`ll just take him to the gym and make him do leg presses for a bit. hahaDid you happen to make sure the valves are adjusted right that could make it harder to start
But yes, check the valves. That can make them hard to start. tboltusa also has this CDI box that makes them easier. Retards timing at startup. It says it removes rev limiter, but you can also flip a switch and have a rev limiter that is adjustable.

Thank you. I will look into this. I`ll probably find a way to show him how to start it with the kick stand down. If not, he`ll just have to figure out how to keep it running or bug his older brother to assist.
I think I'm going to swap bikes with my nephew this spring. He has a 110 that is a bit smaller and does not have a clutch and I'm hopeful that'll give my youngest son more experience riding vs having to learn clutch at the same time. He started riding my other sons ttr110 a few weeks ago and did pretty well but he needs a lot more seat time.I think those are separate style motors so their is no easy way to add it. Part of learning to ride is learning to set it up to kick start them. Mine started on CRF50s and were finally able to start them. Went to 110, 125, and now my son is on a 250f. All of them had kick and electric except the 50. The 250 is electric only. I dread it when it won’t start on him and he can’t kick it over.
To do it all over again, mine wouldn’t have started riding, lol. Luckily I think we are good for a while. The 125 big wheel fits my daughter and I don’t think she will grow a lot more. My son will need a bigger bike, but it pulls my big rear end around fine, so it will last him several more years.I think I'm going to swap bikes with my nephew this spring. Also, I have his ttr50 in the garage now but I need to pull the head off bc my brother thinks there's something up with it or the bottom end.
