Hi fellas I just acquired a very nice 661R would not run, has great compression and fire. But when I go to start it it will pop one time and that's it. I changed solenoid checked spark screen. Any suggestions?

I'll trade you a very strong ported 066 for it

If not ....................

I've seen bad wiring connections
Does it have the 4700 or the 4701 coil
Have you determined if it is spark or fuel causing this issue

Got a 660 carb to throw on really quick to isolate if the 661 carb is the issue?

Change the coil. The primary wiring will let it pop, but if the secondary wiring is messed up it will not run. This was the problem that drove me crazy with 044#2. I was so sure it was a fuel problem I changed the carb and everything else before I did the coil, which solved the problem.

Did you check the compression with a gauge? Did you pull the muffler?

I'll get your saw, parts and coil out in the morning. Been making hay all week and haven't had time to do anything saw related. BTW your 064 is a mean sob!
Hell yea it is, you built it. I haven't seen a 064 yet that you built that wasn't.
