661 coils

I tried 3 coils out this weekend on the 661. All 3 are very close it cut times. With 2 I have too much timing and need to back the key off. I hope to try them this weekend. The Tillotson was the carb I tried. It was only turned out about 3/8 from seated to get 13.3k

Nice Mike! Is the Euro the unlimited coil or are they all unlimited?

Euro is unlimited. The timing was too far advanced and was hurting rpm best I could tell with the tach.

I did not. Wouldn't you have to swap shafts and all?

The euro coil is used on a standard carb saw so it won't run a mtronic carb.
I just thought of that. Lol

Is it and a regular carb stronger than the mtronic setup?
I have yet to find any combination that is ahead of the mtronic but I haven't tried the euro coil.

It made 1 cut faster with the euro. I need to back timing off and try it again

I know I already told you Mike but I ran a 4701a with 040 off the key and it ran fine then switched to a 4700c with the same 040 key and it was unusable with way to much timing.
The 4700 must have a lot more advance in it than the 4701.

You can hear in the 4700 video it's popping. No problem with the 4701

Makes sense that they either added fuel, removed timing, or both when they revised the 4700 with the 4701

I thought some had. I couldn't remember who. If we have time this weekend I'll back it off and try these other carbs again.

Other than some chain and oiler mods, I have no work planned. I have fresh wood and may have located some gum.

Cool. I can swap the coils and carbs in about 5 minutes.
