Ive heard that these saws do really like a slight timing advance. I am contemplating doing one to mine. Just not 100% on how to do it lol.

The last 562 I did I filed approx 1/3 off the FW key.
I did it as part of a full wood port job so how much was gained just from the timing advance I really can’t say. I know the saw ran well after and didn’t have any signs of pre detonation

I'll give it a try tomorrow and see how it does, thanks.

You have to file part of the flywheel key off so that you will be able rotate the flywheel counterclockwise and then tighten it down in that position.

I advanced it about a third of the key and it seems like it helped it out. :)

I got 18.5-19 seconds before timing advance and 19-19.5 after. Wood must’ve changed since you said it’s stronger?

I just checked the times and I got, 22, 20,21 before and 19, 19 and 21 on the last cut was cutting into the rounds underneath. Not really a big difference before and after but it did feel stronger..

Yup tough to time your first cut since you stopped at the end. I guess you might as well keep the advance anyway? Since it’s not worth the hassle to pull flywheel again and it didn’t loose anything.

I'll leave it the way it is, I didn't do much to the cylinder but maybe on one with an all out port job it would make a bigger difference.

You gonna try to find more torque with staggering the uppers roof next?

I don't think I'll be doing anything more to it, it's mainly a 20" saw and it's got plenty of torque for that.

I don't know it the carb adjusted itself or if it was the timing advance but it took 3-4 seconds off cutting this round, the round is getting smaller as I go back on it.

It amazes me the this little 60cc saw with very little work can pull a longer bar as well as it does.
