Been eyeballing the 540xp MKIII as another saw to add to the collection, but wanted to get a sense of how it runs compared to other stuff I am familiar with.
Currently doing most of my cutting with a ported 543xp/13"/.325". Like 90% of it, apart from blocking up firewood. Mostly buckthorn and honeysuckle, 1-15" but mostly 4-6". Used to do this with 238se, 42, and 242xp, but with as many parts as are NLA on those anymore, they just come out for fun now. Did it with ported 346 for a while, but found I didn't really need the bulk compared to the 242 and 543 chassis size for what I was doing. In many respects the ported 543 is probably perfect for this work, but well, they stopped selling them.
I've run 339xp and found it underwhelming for this work and both 020 and 200t also seemed slower than I wanted for this work.
How would a 540 MKIII, whether stock or ported, compare to the saws listed above?
