excellent

Perhaps wrapping with damp rags too

Forgot that trick

You can also use some bloc-it heat paste but the damage is far enough away from anything else that I wouldn't bother.

I probably weld 10 saws like this a year, most caused by using extremely large WC style AM dogs in Midwest hardwood.

I may be guilty of this. Is it operater err that helps the braking along or is it purely just overloading the dog mounts? I'm running them for the muffler clearance towards the bottom of big logs mostly and so I have the right hand spike when needed.

Some of both, the longer spikes create more moment arm on the mounts so I wouldn't jam them into hardwood like you would something with thick bark.

Ok. Like I said I'm really just running them for the clearance. The first time I ran the Masterminded 462 they are on I was almost through the log and the chain caught slamming the saw against the log and mashing my hand between the chain break and the handle. That hurt!

😳 Now that it’s scary! Did you find what the chain hit?
The tree I was cutting was rotten 1/2 half of the way thru on the side of a heavy leaning tree. I did a small face cut then plunged to set a wide “holding wood”. As soon as I stared to cut back the tree had a small “barberchair” and pulled my saw in. That was sickening to watch and scary to get away from. I am Blessed that nothing worse happened.
