441 porting questions

Somehow a 441 got a bad rap but I think it's a fantastic saw that ports damn good.

It's always been one of my favorites, just because it runs so smooth for it's size. It may weigh almost the same as a 460, but there is a huge difference in vibes.

Yup, drivability. Well put and couldn't agree more.

Who cares if if gets through a log a half a second faster? Has to start easily, have a wide powerband, idle well, not be too loud, and overall be balanced.

Given the choice of a 10 second big block '69 Camaro vs a 2017 SS to drive to work, I'd take the 2017 every time. It all has to work together.

There's a place for a fast saw,it's just not a great choice if your going to use it all day.

I'm not planning on taking any new work till August......except for customers that have me pick up new saws for them.

I do so many of certain models that I end up doing a batch of them about every six weeks or so. I'll still take saws for those batches.

We got lucky and the Tornado missed us by a few hundred yards but others weren't as lucky.
The owner of a big grade mill that I build and port saws for has only a foundation this morning but he said it's not so bad,him and his family are still here so it could be worse.
I stood on the porch and listened to it go right past last night.
Scared as I've ever been.
Thank the Lord that only a couple lost it all,others just lost a home or a building.

So i put the degree wheel on it tonight and got 102 exhaust
130 to 134 on the transfers and 77 intake.. im bringing the exhaust to 100 transfers to 125 and im going to notch the piston to get 80 intake.. that way when i get a lathe i can change the piston to bring it down to 80 again. These numbers are without the base gasket .

Wow you guys got lucky! Iam just over here in Kansas didn't get a drop of rain.

About 15 years ago a tornado hit my uncles place and theres still live twisted up trees in the hedge row
