I consider these little darlins the Jack Rusell terriers of chainsawdom .I only own two,a Poulan and an 024 Stihl which is only 42 cc so it isn't even a 3 cuber .For light work they are hard to beat, light, easy to operate and go forever on a tank of gas .

I have a bunch of dead falls from 6" to about 10" .Work like this is ideal for this size of saw .It's light enough you can cut right on the ground and control it so you aren't cutting dirt .Heavier saw you'd be filing every half tank full .

I doubt a person would care to drop a 30" oak with one but if you did it would get-r-done .Just take a lot longer .

Here's a 2.6 cube in 25" hard red oak.

And noodling same oak wearing a 3 foot bar

Done correctly, they can truly be a one Saw plan.

I was really looking for an 026 when I stumbled onto the 024 .It was in a dealers dead pile, complete even had a plastic bar guard with it . 50 bucks.

It had a slightly scorched exhaust side piston .Most likely a combination of 50 to one and it had the most restrictive exhaust used on the 024-026 series .All I did was cut the baffle cage out and enlarged the hole a bit and retuned the carb .4-5 years, never had a problem with it

Now and again a little peach comes along. This was my last 024 , almost like new and gave me a idea how they were from the box.

Great saws , I always liked the 028 as well . I have one and my youngest son has 3 plus a couple parts saws , he loves them for firewood .

3000 305 49cc and you can get same 3 ci with 54cc 335 top. Love it.

In the back of this pic. Even tested it ripping in the dry dead ash butt log. Was impressed. But under the clutch cover would clog up which suked.

The wood in pic was cut for a preschool to use for the kids.

Does great in the smoker too.

I let a good friend of mine run the ported '46 last trip to the orchard. He just called me last week wanting to get his worked over.
