Posted this elsewhere a while back, but thought it would be useful here. 262 Fuel tanks are NLA these days, but there's an easy solution to keep the saw going by using related fuel tanks from the 254/257 or the 51/55 which is essentially the same thing. This busted tank was beyond a JB type fix, so I installed the 55 tank in the pic. Need to use the 254/257 screw type mount on the left, as the 55 mounts obviously won't work. End result is a saw that feels more like a 257 in your hands than a 262, and there's a little more vibration. But it's way better than a dead saw that you can't use. IMG_1221.JPG

Probably would have but they are NLA, and I didn't have one laying around. It's more of a support than a spacer, but I don't think it matters much either way. The 55 uses the same tank and handle as the 254, but doesn't use that spacer, so it can't be all that important.

Yup, they are NLA, I belive the idea with the spacer is to give more bearing area for the front handle, 262 tank has plastic spacer on the tank for the same reason.
If I had to go the same route I would probleby just glue epoxy on the front handle and sanded it.
