Seal isnt NLA but bearing is, slacker 543301.
There is a shop in Germany who sell slacker 543301E, last time I heard the price where around 120$.

If you want to go cheap you have to use a smaller bearing + socket to hold bearing + flywheel seal, and you also need a plastic worm gear that you have to shave a tad off, one of those days I thought to do it but I'be had to many others projects going on.

My best suggestion would be to grab one low hour 44/444 and use that PTO bearing, I grab all those 44's not becuase I like the saw but I love their bearing ;) it's the same bearing they used on 242/246, that is what I'm doing nowadays.
I used a year to suck Norway dry for new PTO bearings ;)

Gasket kits are also close to NLA in US, already NLA in Norway.

I was looking at mine and was thinking that the 346/353 PTO side bearing and seal combo might work in the 238/242/246. I'll do some more measuring on it though to confirm that idea.

I just chatted with local bearing house.

The slacker 543301 is nearly the same as a standard 6201, just 2mm thicker. Can we get away with this?

15mm shaft vs 12mm shaft, 346 bearing is more thick if I rememeber correct, their outside diameter is also bigger who bring it over to crankcase work also, and you will end up to be in conflict with the oil pump due thickness issue.

no and yes, big problem is to get a seal, and on the same time there is no more space then 2 mm to the oil pump from one 6201 bearing.

Maybe I mis-stated .... the 6201 is 2mm thinner than the 543301

that is correct Ted, but 543301 has a proper seal in the bearing while 6201 has no seal.
Furthermore, the cage and center is moved as close as possible to the crank on 543301 while 6201 has centered system, it may not sound so much but it give 1 mm more to play with.

I just tried to order seal last week through my dealer and came up as no longer available also so did the gasket set.

I found one seal on ebay and bought it but was looking for some spares the only other listing on ebay was randy engine repair but did not want to try him because i have always heard he will list the part but not stock it

i went ahead a ordered two seals from randy s and got a notice that they shipped so we will see. Was able to order a couple OEM gasket sets through HL Supply to, while they last.

i had also ordered some other little parts through my dealer and they came back no longer available. Maybe we can hope some after market company will come up with some options for the seal/bearing and other parts but probable not.

Kinda sucks i just recently got interested into this series of saws. Time to start hoarding parts, not that i wasn't going to anyways.

I'm a bit lucky, I just called Husky Norway, they had 511 in stock, # 501 61 49 01, the day anyone need those seals let me know and I'll get them for your guys.
Flywheel key was NLA though :(

Guess I have to find a high quality gasket materiale so I can make those NLA gasket kits

so i have to 246's and im rebuilding the best one right now. My question is do i take the other one and put a 242 cylinder on it or is the performance difference not worth it? Would probable half to use a tecomec cylinder to do that though.

Im not sure if Tecomec 242 top end is still avaible, dont see them on ebay.
I'm also interested to know if they still sell 242 p&c or piston.
Biggest boost I got in those 42 special and 242 is to advance the timing, wouldnt surprise me if you get a gain in 246 also.

I removed half the key, worked out nice on them, but you can start with 1/3 of, it improve throttle respond quite a bit, special on the open port 42 spec

throttle lock nla to
Half the saw is almost NLA, your guys have some parts, Europa has some parts, but there is no order, its a chaos.
If you really want to stock up some NLA stuff you have to work pretty hard for it, I'll give you one advise, find those old dealers, those who has been in business for 30 years, that's where you can find NLA stuff.
