I did get a pair of AR8s, not a full logger boot like some of you need but otherwise a very nice boot. Break in hasn't been horrible and they are very sturdy. They're stich down construction so very cheap as far as boots go to have them redone, I got the buffalo leather and boy is it durable. Anybody have anything they recommend for treating the leather with? I know I'll never get them fully watertight but I'd like to get as close as I can.

Coupla pairs boots are sidelined:
Timberland Evergreen loggers:
That synthetic heel counter is beating the crap out of the back of my heels when hiking up really steep stuff. It has no give, as the back of the heels rubs walking up really steep stuff. A thick woolsock doesnt even help!

Carolina Birch Logger:
They are just too flimsy and are major risk of spraining an ankle. You can grasp the leather, grasp the heel and rock the heel left to right a good half inch. There is no reinforcement in the heel counter which makes the entire heel floppy.

There is no steel shank/rib in the arch even though they claim there is. The leather is so soft, you have to get excessive with lace tension to get them somewhat supportive. The Carolina Birch Logger is the fkn over-priced Walmart sneaker of logger boots.

I wont wear either pair of boots again.

I’ve been looking at Irish setter shorewoods. I can’t justify new danner quarry because they’re $350 garbage now. I have several older pairs of danners that have outlived 3-4 pairs of newer ones.

I got a pair of the Georgia 8" Loggers. I couldn't pass up the price $55.75 eBay shipped :risas3: on an 11ee that was used, more like walked around in the store from what I can tell. They are def not the ones you received that delaminated. Mine are full stitch all around, all through the soul. Ive been very impressed so far, standing for +12 hours for a few days on concrete and some light tree work so far.

Boots are tuff to give advice on. I used to sell shoes n boots for a short time and a foot is like a finger print, everyone's is different and they personally feel in a shoe/boot very different. Great fitment is 90% an educated user who knows what works for their foot and what does not. I thank you mainer_in_ak for the shake down on these brands and their pros n cons. IMO good boots are ones you know fit well and last for your usage, but the BEST BOOTS are those gotten on the cheap that are "good boots". My advice to all is to always be on the lookout for an unpassable deal on what you know works for you the best. Buy them weather you currently need them or not, put them on the shelf until you do. Your feet don't change much until your much older so if it works, it works. Its the boot Cos that go and change things and then we got to start all over finding the right pair.

My favorite boots, danner quarry 2 I got off eBay used and had them rebuilt, still less than new. Most comfortable boots I’ve had in a long time. But they’re 600g insulation so no good for over 50 degree weather.

Yeah I have the same problem when it’s hot. My feet are always warm and goretex sucks in the summer.
