So........ I have a tsumura lightweight in small mount. Got it back when @Redbull661 was getting them reasonable. Halfway looking for a d009 mount lightweight now. Had a 20" techlight but sold that. Oops......

I really like the jap bars for the quality over the weight savings. What are your thoughts? Worth it to spring for the high end bar or run a cheap laminate and say fudge it. Can't say how often I will use it at the moment. The saw (562) is waiting on a cylinder to come in.

Have a 24" tsumura as well, but my 371 wears that. Will probably never run over a 20" on the 562. Reason being I mostly cut dry hardwoods elm, oak, hickory. Rather run a lil shorter bar than most would, just to keep the saw in it's happy zone.

I’m interested in your small mount if you’re getting rid of it. I don’t have any lightweight 20” large mount LW to trade though. Just regular weight Total or Tsumura

Probably won't be letting it go, but if it happens you will be the first to know my friend.

Steve, have you ever tried the Oregon Versacut bars? I have a couple in 20" D009 and I really like them. Definitely not on par with the Japanese bars for quality, but I have been able to scoop them up off Ebay for less than $40. As for weight, I am pretty sure they are lighter than the other reduced weight bars.

I have not. I have a 20" Bailey's laminate. It works and is light. The one thing on the back of my mind when using it. Is will the tip explode when I make this bore cut....... But fortunately I don't do that often.

But yeah. That is what I was thinking. The lam bars are darn light. I compared the two before I made the post. Can almost buy 3 laminate bars for the price of a Japanese bar. Know what I mean?

For bars at 20" I think the versa cut is a very good option. When getting into the long bars really saving weight and quality must be challenging for the manufacturer. The Oregon reduced weight bar is phenomenally light but it certainly isn't the quality of Stihl or Sugihara light bars.

Sugi bars aren’t really a light bar in my opinion, good bar but not light

Yeah, lighter than their normal weight?
Doesn't weight much less then a normal bar .But I got one of their Husqvarna X-tough bars and its very high quality.
Here's the weights of a sugi and a versacut . Both 20" 3/8 d009 mount .

+ whatever for the Versacut. I have a 24" on my 562 and I like it just fine. Count me in the camp of wanting at least a 28" version.
