That's what Randy did to my 10mm 044.

Can I ask what 044 is better or stronger, the 10mm or 12mm?

10mm cylinder is the better of the 2.
Lotta guys think it's the small end of the crank that lead to failures, but it's actually the big end bearing in the 10mm crank that allegedly had issues.
However, of the 7 or 8 10mm's I've had apart, the only bearing failures I've seen were the main bearings and not the rod bearings.

Cool. I was just curious. Not trying to derail the thread.

I'm not sure but I've heard many say the numbers in a stock 10 mm are better.

How does one tell if they have a 10mm or a 12mm saw?

I built 2 10mm jug saws once to try the 10mm crank and 12mm crank ,stock jug ,same early heavy flywheels ,the 10mm crank saw ran real close to the 12mm in the cut ,but the exhaust tone sounded angrier in the 10mm saw for some reason ,the cases are slightly tighter in the 10mm saws ,not sure if that is a factor or not .
