Hey all..looking for ideas on opening up the airflow on a 036 Pro. I ordered up the nylon Arctic filter to replace the stock flock restriction device that in came with. Now looking to the filter cover I see that its pretty well anti performance also..what have others done to open theirs up? POST UP PICS of your air box mods on 036\034s

You need the metal mesh winter filter. Has best air flow for a 036.

Any mods so the 036 Pro can take a more modern air filter?

I love my two 036's. I bought them new years ago and realize that they have been surpassed today. (corrections requested)

Nice Ed. Do you notice if the filters run any cleaner? Or just more air availability to the filter?

I don't think it did anything as far as helping the filter stay cleaner. It seemed to still get the same amount of funk on it in the same period of time.
I have to believe it allows better airflow to the filter though, as you can see it through the frogskinz. Did it improve performance? Nah, not that I could tell.

Second saw from left is an 036 pro.
Filter cover was cracked so I took the hole saw to it and covered it with FrogSkin.

Same thing was done to the 046 on the left.

That will definitely get more air in! Think I'm gonna try something like that. Might use old muffler screen.

I'd recommend the Frogskinz.
You can get it off Amazon or many places online. It breathes but won't let water/snow in.
My stuff sees most of its run time during winter, so snow is usually encountered.
You can get a sheet of different sizes or of the same size, it's not very expensive.

I use this stuff, it's for snowmobile intake filters sheds water and breathes great. Any saws that don't have a max flo kit available I cut the flocking out of the old filter and replace it with this. Cleans up easily with a shot of air and carb spray when necessary.
