Looks like a good deal on a nice saw! Have you ran it with the modded muffler? If so did it make much of a difference in performance? Just wondering how the auto tune reacts to the mod. Have you had any issues with the auto tune ? I've heard stories of hot start issues. Happy New Year!!!

Just went to the local John Deer/ Echo dealer today to look at a cs501p he just got in. I asked the same question about a 16" bar. The manual does have part no. for 16" bar but it's not an option when ordering ,according to the dealer. I kinda like the saw , light compact. A little pricey though...

I can understand that in your case because you also sell Dolmar more bang for the buck, but you would think the dealers that only sell echo would stock the 501. The guy I talked to at the JD dealer said he owns a 450 and after talking for a bit he said he might be selling the 450 to buy the 501...

That's good to know. You would know better than I for sure. What is your take on a comparison between stock 5105 and the 501p? Which is better ported? What would you consider a reasonable service life for either saw ,well maintained,used for firewood 6-10 cord a year? I know that's a tough...

I saw the ported 501 for sale. I just think that once ported the service life is shortened. Bearings become the weak link in the chain at that point. I'm sure performance is enhanced but at what cost???

The only Echo dealer in the local town is John Deer , there's a dealer about 20 mi. away but he's going out of business due to health issues. There's one 20mi. the other way but not a very good place to do business.Most woodcutters around here are Stihl or Husky guys.

Thanks for the info Nate. The Oregon bar finder didn't list a 16" bar . Now that I know the mount I'll do some more checking . If I do go with the 501 I'll just get the bar and chain from you, probably just stick with the .325 but I really think the saw would work well with a 16" 3/8. I think...

It's actually an ea4300 never been in the wood. Test tuned with can gas at the dealer and never run after that. I'm gonna try and sell it local so I don't have to fuss with shipping and funds transfers . If it doesn't. move quickly I'll list it here.

I have a 5105 bought from a@fordf150 great saw. I'm looking at the 501p to use where I used the 421, it's light and should be comparable and no auto tune.
