    3120 max bar length milling?

Sounds kinda fun, but I’ve not been. I’m sure there would be something to learn as well, I just have too many interests and projects for three lifetimes… Re: milling eucalyptus, I‘ve done a bit of green Red Ironbark and River Red Gum, and they get considerably hard as time progresses, even just...

    3120 max bar length milling?

That sounds like a horrible thing to do to me, but the heart wants what the heart wants. I suppose chainsaws are consumables in the grand scheme of things. If I had to do it I wouldn’t worry about the type of chain, just go slow, monitor sharpness carefully, and have enough sharp spares to swap...

Grinding upper transfers on small bore saws

The pros use dental grinding tools to get in the tight areas.

    .404 chain question

The 60” .404 cannon I have flops around for sure. To the point I wouldn’t be comfortable starting a felling cut with it under any circumstance - the handful of times I have used it on standing trees, I started each and every kerf with a 70 or 90cc saw.

    3120 max bar length milling?

I have a cannon 60” in .404 that I use on occasion. Aux oiler is absolutely necessary over 42”, IMO. Longer might be possible with 3/8 chain, but would dull much faster and would likely cut wiggly as fook. The 60” mill is unwieldy to say the least, and I tend to get a lot of wonk at the...

    DR chipper..or something else?

I think you would be a lot happier with something like this: https://www.jansenusa.com/product/wood-chipper-and-shredder-gts-2000pro-kohler/ Others may disagree, but I’ve had poor experiences with DR and BearCat chippers claiming better than basic homeowner capacity. The premium names in this...

    Electric chainsaws safer?

Re: safety, the situations where I find the battery saw really excels are on limb walks when I don’t have to use two hands to start the saw before reaching out to make end weight reductions, and any time I’m operating the saw near my face. The lack of engine noise isn’t always a negative -...

    Electric chainsaws safer?

Not sure any of them qualify as “good sized”, but the Husqvarna T540ixp is definitely the best I have used. Comes in a rear handle version as well. On the downside, the saw, charger, and two bli200x batteries will set you back over a grand. Also took many months to arrive after my dealer placed...

    OILER ADJUSTMENT

Counterclockwise usually increases flow, but I’m unfamiliar with the saw in question

Want to mill own lumber. Would like input. New to it.

You got good advice on the other site - unsure why you’re reposting verbatim here. Hire a portable bandsaw mill unless you’re really a glutton for punishment. If you’re absolutely hell bent on a quixotic chainsaw milling quest, a 372xp isn’t a good choice for a milling saw. You want 90+ CCs...

Best place to find a helmet with a chin strap

You guys saying you can afford a $200 helmet setup (including ear protection and a shield/screen), but can’t afford a $300 helmet are looking at all wrong. They last a long time if you don’t have any incidents, and if you do, wouldn’t it be nice to have some side impact protection in addition to...

Best place to find a helmet with a chin strap

Pfanner protos is the market leader by leaps and bounds. Best protection and ergonomics, as well as being more comfortable. Also happens to have the best chin strap fastening mechanism ;) Kask and Petzl make great helmets, but you’ll never want to wear one again after trying a Protos.

    Climber for removals

While it's true that good employees can be hard to find, I think much of it comes down to employers not offering adequate compensation for the jobs they seek to fill. Try upping the starting pay you’re offering by $10/hr and I would bet that some better candidates start falling out of the...

    Lay Trac mini dozer

Cool find! Sounds like you really need a mini skid steer / stand on track loader, though!
