I think the metallurgy is the same, cutter profile is slightly different out of the box, same with raker shape. After some file work they will both be the same

What type edge do you put on them? The axe is here. The edge is noticeably dull. Won’t stick in my splitting block

Awesome news for me. I ordered the one without overstrike protection. Figure I can add the paracord and epoxy one if needed. I have a small black cherry to buck and split for a friend. Will be a fine break in for it

    Duke's saw chain

My latest sharpening effort. I go at it with 1/4 then a few strokes of a Pferd 2-1. Is there a way to restore that little beak on the stock grind?

I ended up grabbing an Ox head spalt fix 1250g 70cm for about $70 delivered. Very excited to try it out. Light and short but will be easier with the easier splitting stuff and smaller logs

More pine. Getting too hot out for all the splitting. A little more than a face cord in this load.

Getting more tanks through the ms390 conversion. Can’t decide where I like the high jet. Cut up a truckbed of pine before the video. 28” bar, Oregon semi skip, Gott grind

The Husqvarna s2800 has the similar profile it seems but still a hollow handle. I would like to handle the Stihl axe. I’ll have to see if my dealer has one to molest. The head seems a much different profile than the x27

    Thick and durable handle wrap?

Look up x flock tubing for surf fishing rods

I was looking at a few of their options last night. They produce the Stihl axes as well

I’ve considered filling the x27 with some foam. Not sure it would do anything

I have been using my fiskars x27 and isocore for several years now. I have a wandering eye Is a wooden handle splitting axe going to be more forgiving on my elbows? What brands offer a head similar to the x27 in both shape and weight? It has blasted through almost everything I have thrown at...

Load of pine, going back for some black cherry soon. Enough pine there to build a cabin but I don’t have the equipment to make planks

What oil is best? and what ratio?

I like EVO in my dressings. Red armour in my power equipment. Sometimes I get wild the pump and don’t let it touch 2 full gallons for the somewhere between 40-1 and 50-1 mystery mix. I think the spontaneity is what keeps me and my saws so tight after all these years.
