Dynamite was pretty common around here up until 1970 or so. Farmers used it to build ponds and remove big stumps among other things. My FIL had one of those boxes in his barn. Neat find.
Buy a battery first. Eliminate the simplest. I’ve had good batteries, that tested 100%, not have enough starting amps. Those lawnmower batteries are not dependable.

Well, when I got through mowing anfter about four hours, wife flags me down and the elbow under the sink needs replacing. Water going everywhere. Just got it fixed I hope. Now to pick up Grandkids!
We have a lot of pines that have tar around the bases. Think of it as an intense grease fire. It is impossible to put out and will send sparks everywhere. I hope I never have one again, but I burn almost every week, conditions permitting.
