This is my preferred tool for sharpening blades… We got one about 10 yr ago, and it has paid itself off many times over.

I agree that using both hands really helps to guide the file while the bar is held in a vise. I do have to watch that I don't end up...

Could also be dipping and raising the file handle in the stroke, which is harder to watch for than top plate angle.

Mines and XPG so the carb isn’t icing and old boot still tore

I'm guessing the updated intake boot will do more with cold weather longevity than that cover will do. I'd think that is more for carb...

40g 4-1/2 Walter zirconia flap wheel on a corded angle grinder... I got better things to do than waste time sharpening lawn blades.
