I've experienced the same thing but it's caused by vibration.. Putting the saw on the ground it vibrate the carb and would idle richer and richer then die. But when I hold the saw idling it can idle all day.
Your not wrong. Those might be 025C with primer blub. But no MS250 as I know of. Some 025 have cylinder with decom boss but not tapped. Not seeing those everyday but they do exist.
Don't loan chainsaw to not mechanically inclined person. They would kill themselves or fack up your saw. Coming back with dull chain is the best you can hope.
