New welder is amazing. Easily strikes an arc at my cheat sheets lowest setting. Got to spend some good welding time cutting and welding a new grate to allow air to more easily flow from beneath the wood in my smoker.

    Water pressure tanks

4 1/2 months and I lost 4psi. Looks like twice a year I'll have to do some rather easy maintenance on the well pump reservoir. I'm glad the recommended local plumber never returned my call. Only took 35 seconds to fill the reservoir from empty to full. I can time it and get a sense of when I...

Pulled the panel for the home wiring. To the garage the pair of cables is 2AWG which can support 95Amps. The wire from the street is (my guess) twice as thick (or really really thick). I'm going to pick up a heavier duty breaker for the main breaker panel. Looks like I have more than enough...

    Absurdities on the YT

I learned to weld at YT University. There are some non-welding channels I like to watch, but after a bit of time there is nothing new for them to share, and it's "We went shopping at Costco, look what we bought". Watching people buy peanut butter by the barrel gets old within minutes, nay...

    Century FC-90 welder

Here is today's project complete and ready for the customer to pick up. Not my best work, but for free and good enough to handle the weight of an ATV.

Here is a couple of beads with the Lincoln Arc welder (1/8 6013). Gives me newfound respect for the Forney FC welder. Equal in my eyes.

I'm ready to start welding. The saw made quick work of the pieces.

I have a guy coming over to have some ramps welded. Just put up the Free Welding Ad this morning. After doing a few projects like this, taking pictures, I'll be able to charge a fee for the service. /------------------ edit ---------------------/ Some cutting involved. Nice new...

    Century FC-90 welder

It does have a lot of advantages. Light weight, easy start arc, love the carry handle (wraps up all the cables), 120V.

After a few days of working at this, the welding setup is now complete. On top of the breaker box is a 60Amp breaker ready to install, if ever it becomes necessary. I cut up a Kubota cab roof that mostly survived a run-away tractor accident on a steep hill. I get an extra shelf and some...

    Century FC-90 welder

Some Forney beads. Recommended for this 1/8 inch thick mower blade was 7 of 10 amps and 7 of 10 wire feed rate. Backed off the amps and the wire feed moving from left to right. At 5 of 10 Amps the arc was getting inconsistent. Not a whole lot of difference. Breaks in the bead were where I...

    Century FC-90 welder

I have the same welder. Had it for a couple of years and still can't get welds that I feel proud of. Unlike my stick welders which yield (IMO) almost factory quality welds. Now that you have been at it for a year and a half how's the Forney welds looking?

    Air Hammer recommendations?

I used the air hammer for the first time today. Used it to help break down some pallet crates for kindling. Perhaps not the best application, and it did help some, but not as much as I had hoped. Did a nice job in separating the planks and cut thru some of the nails and staples well enough...

Spray painting. Rattle Can vs. Paint Spray Air Gun

Yup, cleaning the gun is a chore. I remember my first use of this gun and getting it all jammed up. Since then, only paint that can be cleaned with water, and spay a lot of water thru the gun til it is absolutely clear. Like you say, one of the best reasons for a rattle can -- Shake and go...
