Not a give away saw. I haven’t checked lately but after Stihl discontinued them they were a hot item to get. I gave my original to a friend who wanted a really light saw. I thought it would be easy to replace. Eventually found another nice one but had to pay as much as they had been selling...
I’ve had mixed results with them. The service provided by their employees seems definitely subpar but I think their “target market” is different. Go to an Ace, Lowe’s, or HD and I think they go after the urban home owner who wants to do his own minor repair - like replacing an O ring in the...
I’ve just been watching this thread and a question comes to mind - with the Mark ll series saws do you still have to get a new coil flashed to match the carb?
A 555 is basically a 562XP with small mount bar and no stuffers, smaller transfers. Slightly lighter weight. I don’t think the average weekend sawyer could tell the difference. I’ve got a ported 555 and ported 562Xp and I kinda like the 555 better.
I have to to disagree with you. I’m a Husky guy and I also work on a lot of chainsaws. Husky is better in some ways, like taking off wrap bars, but have you ever done heavy maintenance on Autotunes? Mtronics are far easier to work on.
I work on a lot of Mtronics, as well as sawing myself. I would replace the solenoid first thing without hesitation. Cost about $50. When I bought my own, new 400C a couple of years ago the solenoid crapped the second or third day I used it.
Randy I don’t see how in the world you have the time to work saws and moderate this forum too, but I want you to know I think you do a great job and I appreciate it.

Hey I’m finally getting around to putting this thing together. Question - the carb doesn’t look like it has ever been used, will I need to get it flashed or was it on a running saw already?
