I have a couple china saws. Being mechanically inclined and knowing how to tune a saw helps. Dont expect pro saw longevity but they will take a suprising amount of abuse on a safe tune. They can be ported to be pretty strong runners if you know what you are doing.
Metric and imperial are equally common here. I usually use imperial on stuff I build. Most older equipment is imperial. Automotive and most other stuff metric.
Just sand blast it. Ready for a new piston in no time
Thoughts? Notice there is a tiny thin line of carbon at the intake wall. Looks like some short circuit going on, but actually uses very little fuel and doesnt stink. Should have done another and kept the upper transfers tighter to compare. It runs very very well for a little saw though.
Also, I...
Just read a pile of this thread and have a rant to add.
You 100 percent can turbo a piston ported 2 stroke. A properly sized turbo has turbine drive pressure less than boost or 1:1 typically, but during spool it is more like 3:1. Regardless, you are basiclly buulding a 2 stroke that...
Couple pics. Never tried making one of these pipes before. Need to compare to the muffler, but seems to have a wide powerband. Might notch the piston for more intake and see how it likes it. For now I'm pretty happy with it, all it is really is a novelty play saw.
First test tonight with a dull...
Craftsman used to make good stuff. But times have changed I think.
This wild thing is pretty well ready to start, waiting on the motoseal.
The aftermarket jug was not the best but we will see how it runs. I have 2 other cylinders I havent touched yet. Tunneled out the lower transfers quite a...
Tig weldded up the head I cut off last night. When I faced and turned it to cut the chamber and seal area, full of porosity. Have done a lot of aluminum tig over the years and if theres no indication of that during welding, it usually comes from hydrogen dissolved into the aluminum and...
Reading that boils my blood. There is no excuse for a bad shot. Leaving animals in the woods is also disgraceful. It is common here for guys to fire like 3 rounds a year. Shoot one at a pie plate and then go hit the woods. I dont even get it, I hand load and shoot 3k plus centerfire rounds per...
I havent found this talked about before, but the strato and non strato flywheels are interchangeable. But if you look at the key, the magnets are in a different location. If you use a strato flywheel on a non strato saw you need to use the coil too. If you use a strato flywheel and a non strato...
I guess Ill make this my dedicated poulan thread. Had some time tonight to *f-word around and find out. Dug out the old wild thing and dusted er off, got some crank seals with a crappy looking china jug. If i set the squish it was going to free port. Considered tig welding up the piston but decided...
Yes it can. And that works too. I have had decent luck with chinese 194s also. The primary and secondary idle fuel ports on a 194 are set up better but the venturi is about the same size on them
