    Stihl carb tool

Looking for which Stihl carb tool gets into the BR700 carbs. I have the xxxx-xxx-2307 tool which is the thin wall 4mm hex but that is a no go. So dang tight you can't get in to measure or ID this thing. Is it the xxxx-xxx-2314 tool? Can anyone confirm? Direct message is fine as I know Stihl...

    MS 462 M-Tronic reset / data pull

Saw started fine but shows on the leab side of normal on the MDG6 but still in tolerance. The brand new solenoid I installed fails the self test of leakage. Dealer is trying to get Stihl to warranty the part for me as it was clearly a faulty part. Building a relationship with a dealer is...

    MS 462 M-Tronic reset / data pull

I guess it goes with out saying, saw is headed to the dealer for a scan, then a start/reset. I just want to be very clear what to look for specifically if anything before and after the reset. Anything to look for errors in my work? I don't want to have taken money to rebuild a saw and have...

    MS 462 M-Tronic reset / data pull

I have an 462c-m here that was brought to me for a top end. Customer [commercial tree crew] is very leary of M-tronic saws at this point as they have had several fail sooner than they expected. I told them I would pull a vac test and go through it top to bottom to ensure it is top notch when...

    Strato spit back / 576xp

Next time it comes apart it will be harvesting parts from it. The more I think about it, I wager the crank is going out. This customer has a history of breaking cranks from repeatedly / regularly hitting the chain brake with the chain still moving. At this point I have abput 10hrs into a saw...

    Strato spit back / 576xp

So in a final act of frustration I swapped the intake. I even added clamps where the strato butterfly intake runners attach to the mount. No change. The issue has to be in the cases/crank/bearings. The rest of the saw's condition does not warrant splitting the cases. In reality the saws's...

    Strato spit back / 576xp

Pictures above... the piston is certainly rocking just a bit.

Well I admit defeat... I have installed a NEW OEM piston and cylinder, two different OEM carbs, non-modded muffler, new OEM seals, new fuel pickup filter, and a new plug just because. For now I am going to say its a lousy intake setup that's pooling or something. Bearings are fine.

Ive got a less than complete 520 cover here. May need a few small bits for the chain tensioner.

    Strato spit back / 576xp

s soon as he called me I figured air leak. I'll pull the PTO seal tomorrow or the next day as time allows... crank does not move at all in there though. The amount of strato spit back is also very strange to me. Normal intake spit back I understand... the strato should be 'dry' unless it's...

Look at the blow by line from the top of the piston from the rear handle. Strange to me that it has a distinct line on the "cool" side of the cylinder. I am at wits end.. and baffled.
