Somebody tried to juice the top of my strip off this weekend. Pretty impressive results. Nothing like a little green ponderosa for the woodstove.....
And the F-er's brushed me in.
And it was marked to leave, lol.
Around here, nobody wants to train a faller. There's not enough money in logging to invest the time/money into a guy to get him to the point of being a a turn key faller.
The new yarders and carriages are no joke either, you can't have an "off" day.
The other side of it is your home life, or...
Haven't had any issues in the montana winter with the three I've had, but whichever is my primary saw gets a new fuel filter once a month religiously.
I haven't run a 500 at colder than -10 F though...the rigging crew can get F'd at that point. And I can stay home and chase the wife around...
I run the green filter all day tree-lengthing with no issues. Weeknights I brush it off with a tooth brush.
It gets a proper clean and fresh oiling on the weekend. Get some proper foam filter cleaner from any where that sells dirt bikes.
It's handy to have four filter elements if you're...
I was pretty unimpressed with the one I demoed last October, I was the second guy to take it for a spin.....glad I stuck with it because it really woke up after the third day I had it.
No sh!t in my eyes or down my shirt = priceless.
Plus a nice beefy rubber chip flap for the occasional violent chain throw.
They definitely don't look like bling after one day in the strip with me, lol.
Not cheap, but I don't mind spending money on stuff that I can swap to the next saw when this one gets retired.
Actually seems cheap compared to the upfront cost of a ported 500, lol
Good on you for providing new parts for old saws. I'm not into the old saws myself, but I'm into old dirt bikes, so I appreciate what you're trying to do.
Best of luck in the long run bud.
It is a little aggravating that the guy is what people seem to associate with what timber fallers are. I don't have time/energy to make videos.
We're mostly just guys that work hard, do our thing and keep to ourselves. That's kind of the point of the damn job.
