    POULAN The Official Poulan Thread

I’ve been clearing my way into an old honey hole that I left to grow over for a few years. I’ll end up with all the D.Fir I can burn next year before I even get to the good stuff. Had the 3000 and 4400 out. The large frame CounterVibes are very, very rare out here in BC. A few survived on...

    Craftsman/Sears saws

In addition to Tim’s comments, the oil pump is impulse driven. Not the strongest, but if needed, I’ve found cutting a fresh gasket, a new pickup (Tygon) and sometimes a new diaphragm using nylon insert sheet stock (punched using the old as a template), brings them back to new. If the diaphragm...

Poulan 3800. Should have chrome piston and bare bore. Thick rings. All good saws in that series. Look at the date stamps in the top cover. Probably later 80’s or so.

    RIP Rocketnorton

I haven’t been around much lately, but I must say Pete was a very generous fellow. He always went out of the way to get/offer me saws. Even if it were something he fancied. On one memorable occasion, he took a ride out to Vancouver Island years ago - just to strap a big CounterVibe to his...

    Throttle linkage rod material

I’ve cut a lot of spokes from old tossed bicycle rims. Few different diameters. Works dandy.

Hi folks. I’ve been sitting on an 024s for a long time. Went ahead and ordered 42x1.5 Cabers before I pulled it apart. Rings on OEM piston turn out to be 1.2mm. I didn’t see any other piston setup in the IPL from 2004 I looked at. Are these (11230343003) called for? Maybe same ring as early...

    HOMELITE Homelite Thread

Brought this home yesterday. Started and ran once for a few minutes in 1975. Sitting dry since. A bit of storage rash here and there, but nothing significant. All the original manuals, can of oil etc.

    JONSERED Jonsereds

I gather this series was not highly revered. Nonetheless, probably one of the cleanest “free to a good home” local pickups I’ve ever snagged. Missing a couple things, but it started on some fresh juice. Nice rim sprocket and bar. Glad all the plumbing appears sound. Mostly because I don’t...

    HUSQVARNA HUSQVARNA THREAD

Hi folks, Just curious if anyone knows how the oil tank/system is vented on the 65/77 series. I’ve run into a 77 that has an odd vent hole drilled into the forward left corner of the air box. The hole accesses the lower oil tank and somehow bypasses the upper fuel tank. My others in this...

Picked up a few saws. Been away for awhile. Pretty clean 330. Not certain there was difference between the 330/340 top ends, but this one measures over 2” with the throat swab. 4.2 cube? Must have kept the mosquitos at bay. Fires on prime. Probably just plumbing to get it running.

Onboard sharpening. Can’t say how well they (didn’t) work.

Will do, Aaron. Appreciate it. Just getting back at some projects after a long hiatus it seems.

    HUSQVARNA HUSQVARNA THREAD

Threw a couple hours at this today. I knew it had a funky spark when I shelved it a year ago. Swore a few times removing the flywheel. Pulled the stator and the cam bushing. Put it all back together with the plate fully clockwise. Cleaned the points. Bites hard if you don’t rip it. At...

STIHL The Official Stihl Chainsaws Thread

Thanks Poge. I stripped a couple of 031’s down some years ago and still have a bucket of goodies. Slowly pick through it when they come through needing odds and ends. Pretty sure buffers are NLA through the dealer last time I checked. I ordered some cheap knockoffs through Farmertec...
