It seems like the crankshaft is ok and the bearing is not. I don't know if it matters much know, but the crankshaft number I see is 90 40.

Hi, thank you for the details. I did split it some weeks ago. Originally I meant to replace both bearings, when I found out that pto bearing is not so easy to find etc. Then I decided to keep the original on the pto side, and replaced the flywheel bearing with a new. I guess it might very well...

Ok, thank you. More work on this 42 than I planned.

This leak is not related to the oil seal, but between the bearing and the crankshaft.

Hi, I did a pressure test on my Husqvarna 42 ,and it has a small leak between the bearing and the crankshaft (metal to metal). Would this normally mean that I need a new bearing?

Hi Tor, FYI Skogsverktyg told me they are willing to ship to Norway. Anyway for the moment I consider to keep both the original piston and the bearing on the PTO side, and just replace the oil seal and piston ring.

This 42 crankcase is also corroded, luckily in the oil tank, I wonder if the corrosion will continue or not, I did dremel and paint it, I don't have experience to know how much that helps.

Thank you. I probably would have done that if you didn't tip me.

Hi, thank you for the clarification around the PTO bearing. I did actually already split the case and put it together again with SKF 6201/C3 on both sides, I also purchases OEM oil seals, when I discovered that something was wrong. I will probably order the proposed bearing from Duke, I cannot...

This is why I thought it is leaking, I see now it is from 2021, and they probably sell a better product now.

Thank you! I thought it was tested by others on this thread and that it is leaking air? Or was that a different bearing?

Hi, I'm new to this group, I live in Norway and find it very meaningful to repair chainsaws. Because of this I have an old Husqvarna 42. I believe it is from 1990. I originally thought I could use SKF 6201/C3 bearing on both flywheel and PTO side. I understand from what you write that SKF 6201...
