I'd check fuel and air filter and look for any kinks in the fuel line. I sounds like the carb isn't pumping enough fuel at idle. Some aftermarket fuel filters look OK but get restricted over time. Metering needle lever height? I'm not sure if the fuel line on those is made from the tygon...

If the carb has a low side mix needle, open it up.

The Terry plant was in Pointe Claire as is says on the label which is a suburb of Montreal. It was owned by Textron. Yours was made in 1980. If you do buy that bar posted above which is the correct mount. Make sure you buy a 3/8 LP (low profile) chain and not a full size 3/8 pitch chain. Chain...
