Back about a week or so ago I was looking for a chain brake for my PM700.There weren't any available on eBay at the time & Mark was gracious enough to go into his attic & find a nice used one for me.Meanwhile,I bought a couple of chain brakes on eBay for PM610s.I opened the first box & it was a...
I managed to find a ProLine fuel line & filter for the PM700 & installed that today.I also put a 20 in.bar & chain on the saw.Still waiting to hear from Mark on the sawdust screen. After installing the new fuel line I had to do a minor carb adjustment as when I'd go to throttle the saw up it'd...
I've been running chainsaws for well over 50 yrs.I have many non-brake saws & I treat them with the utmost respect.I can run the PM700 without a brake, but I'd like it to be original as possible.
I bought a PM700 really cheap & got it delivered today.I went through it briefly & this is what I found - missing the air filter (no problem there),has a broken sawdust screen, needs a fuel line.I pulled the plug & scraped off the carbon from the electrode & put a shot of fuel in it along with...
I got the new rings for the PM55 yesterday from Mark (thanks Mark!) & I installed them on the piston today.I also put a new crank seal on the PTO side & noticed later as I ran my finger through the old seal that it had a burr on the inside of it.Good thing I replaced it! I had my son torque down...
Funny,I was just thinking about my other 254 that may need a module.I'll have to dig it out,but I can't do much yet due to having a knuckle replacement & waiting for it to heal.
For anyone interested,I've tried those modules that are sopld by LRB,& INO they're overpriced.I can buy a different AM module on eBay for around $33 & they work just as good. Both modules (LRB & eBay) are made in China.Lee from LRB may say they're made in the U.S.,but I know better.
I had a similar situation on an electronic ignition module (that's the proper term, not a coil) on an Olympik 254.It had several hairline cracks in it & weak spark.I baked it in a 200 degree oven for 2 hrs.(the recommended time & temp by Leon) & I gave it 2 coatys of marine varnish. That was over...
I got the crank & piston for the PM55 today.I can't even feel the scratches with my fingernail.I'm wondering if I can clean it up with emery cloth & it'd be good to go.Supposedly it came out of a running saw.
I contacted the seller & he said there's no blue to the conn rod,the keyway slot looks good,& the bearings have "normal slop".I'm not afraid to change the bearings if need be,I have a bearing puller & have used it to pull bearings on a 600 series saw.The thing I worry about is changing the conn...
