If the valve you are seeking is the tiny rubber disc under the outlet nozzle you could likely just cut one out of an old diaphragm with a hole punch.

The 257 came with the HDA 120 carburetor. Late versions may have came with an HDA 144.

Are you positive the circlips that came with the piston are the correct size? Mistakes do happen and it is certainly possible the incorrect clips were inserted into the packaging for the piston.
