Limbing and smaller wood. How do you like the 3/8 set up?

For limbing and small stuff I really prefer .325. It's smoother and much less grabby. A 346 can run either pitch with no problem, so I think the application should determine the chain you're using. Bucking firewood, sure, run 3/8, but limbing and thinning in the woods, .325 is much more user friendly.

Yeah if it does any bucking it will be small wood for sure. It will be stock for awhile, we'll at least till it's broke in lol.

Husky has configured these for an 18" .325 and would come standard with that setup.

I run my 43 and 50cc saws with either a 16" .325 or an 18" .325 for the non ported ones.

I do prefer a big nosed .325 bar, as they seem to sling less chains when in a pinch.
Thank you again Dan. I need to get a bar here before the saw shows up lol.

That is still a consideration also. My next saw up after this is 66cc, so not quite sure witch way to go yet.

That’s kind of my reasoning too...I have a pair of 262s, one with an 18 and another with a 20...then several saws with20-36 bars so the346 is my only chance to run a 16 lol

18 with stihl rs on all the 346 and 350s
I've had.
Cuts the best for me in hardwood
And has the best balance
Doesn't overload the saw
Also what i run on my 261 and 490
Have tried 20s on them don't care for it.

Well thank you very much again Dan. This is a really nice thing you are doing for all of us in the states, and it is most definitely appreciated.

No problem, Mike. I enjoy helping folks get a hold of these and I'm getting to know the dealers pretty well.

I know which ones I can work with and which ones to avoid. And, you never know what you'll find.

I got that 371XP from popping in to the dealer to grab parts. :)

Good job slacker VeeP. While it will pull 3/8" no probs, so will your larger saws. I like .325" for the small saws like this. Twenty inch regular and sixteen inch narrow kerf are my favorites. The NK stretches too much on the twenty inch bar. But is a wicked limbing and topping set up.

Notice how slick the NK goes through the smaller log in the vidja. Just the opposite is true with regular .325", though is probably the most versatile of the two when bucking is added to the mix.

That's a real nice runner. If you don't mind I would love to see a pic of the muffler action .

I run a 16" 3/8 on my ported one. The reason I do is because I've got a top handle and an 026 to handle the limbing duties. I use all the wood I can get so anything that is 4" and larger gets bucked. I've got LP on my top handle. The 16" just feels good, dont really save that much on my back for 2". It will buck anything 12" or less no problem, and anything larger I have a whole stable full of saws to choose from. The 346 is my go to saw however. I luv that thing. I dont limb or fool with anything smaller than 4" the whole day or anything close, so to me to keep my stable as consistant as can be I went to 3/8. A little grabby does not bother me as long as I dont have alot of it to do. It really depends on what you are going to use it the most on that should determine your selection.

I run .325 on my ported 346 in both 18” and 20”. I have not noticed much of a difference in power between the two.

You guys have me itching to try 3/8 but the shortest k095 bar in 3/8 I own is a 20”

Give it a try it's not like to gotta find a 20" log lol.
