What happened?
I have no idea 2 be honest!
There is no damage to valves or head, that's the only damage to the piston.
I thought the top ring may be extremely worn, and may have come out of the groove, but there is no gouging of the cylinder wall either. The engine has been quite hot,as the oil in sump smells burnt.
I'll inspect further tomorrow if I get a chance, maybe some little sign of what went wrong....to be continued:)

An 038 Mag2, dirty Bing 48, with a buggered bar stud, a carb with sawdust and diaphram issues!
Yet, those Stihl dealers don't turn wrenches no more...
Easy fix

Utah, unfortunately.....
I'm always amazed by what people will and won't spend money on. We had a fairly well used MS 440 roll through that the owner didn't want to fix the bad top end on, yet another customer wants us to fix his Poulan 2150 Predator......yep, the fugly one with the red recoil cover. This is by far the most BTF saw I have ever had the displeasure of working on.

Got a tiller but all it needed was a little starter fluid to persuade it to start, a new air filter and an oil change

Got my 372xp half wrap handle in from China. Got it mostly bent to the right way gonna have to do some drilling and some trimming but I think it will work for my cs-590. Will post pictures tonight if I can work on it. Looks like an easy $6 upgrade

This is where I'm at so far. Need to do just a little more bending on the bottom and get that last hole to line up as well as straighten the top cut so it sits in the spot nicely and I'll call it done.

Next to my bench at the shop, Oregon
Currently working on an MS440....needs some muffler work and something is wrong with the oiler. Also needs a full darn service to. We'll see what happens. Muffler bolt on the inside came out....both gaskets are there so I assumed put a little dab of loctite on them and back in they go.

Does making a bench count?
Turned this:

Still gotta stain the wood but pretty happy with how it turned out.

My 5 I mean 6yr old as of Monday, has been running around singing the "Reduce,Reuse,Recycle" song lately. I will have to show him this as an excellent example!
Then he will probably want to take his tablet to school to show everybody for show and tell....
Just for reference as to who we are dealing with here, he also says that he is the Future Leader of the Fart Knocker World ....

Haha sounds good to me!

Edit: I have decided on that grinder bench after talking to my friend that does die maintenance that I'm going to get him to make me some brackets to where I can bolt casters to it. Legs are fairly thin angle iron so I don't think it would hold up well to welding.

My opinion as a layman (who don't get laid enough) would be to just tap that filter on the bench, and he'll be ready for another 6.27million bd.ft. of action...

If you zoom in on the first pic, you can see the primer bulb that appears flat. That's because the whole center is missing.
