What's on your bench?

I seem to be up a creek here with a Husky 327-PT5S tree service pole saw in need of telescopic shaft parts (or the whole shaft assembly minus the saw head). The assembly is NLA, though some of the individual parts are still available at ridiculous prices that would be more than the whole unit new. I've checked most of the usual domestic sources with no luck and only get 'availability' hits from dealers in Australia at this point.

The part number is 510 09 70-01 - 'Tube Driveshaft Assembly'. They're decent units and definitely worth reviving if at all possible.

Thanks, man! Don't know how I missed that after spending days searching that number. Turns out it has been superseded by 510097002 and why it comes up NLA everywhere -- but without reference to the new number anywhere I searched -- not even at the Husky dealer I normally use for parts. A guy at PartsTree drilled down and found the new number -- and higher price. Still hooked me up with the 01 at the 01 price.

the return line was rotted off and a plastic double barb fitting floating in the hood in the tank. I couldn’t figure out how it had been in there. I stuffed a short piece of hose on one barb and the return line on the other and Jammed it in the hole. Might improve it with that leftover 2166 vent elbow…


Prolly give these away. Might try the craftsman first for giggles.

Also working on a husky 125b blower. Primer dribbles fuel they the main jet. The Poulan sucks air thru the primer/from the main jet it seems. With the prime lines plugged it runs, but not well. I think I’m just gonna order carbs for both.

I worked on a husky weed wacker a while back and I was surprised about the primer it actually pulled fuel through the carb instead of pushing it in I was really confused I had to watch a video about how it worked maybe the poulan is set up the same way

here’s one: stupid check valve carbs. I’m messing with the craftsman now. Fires with gas in the carb, doesn’t pull fuel, diaphragm sounds like a Snapple bottle lid. Get a kit and clean and rebuild it or just get a whole carb? I’m guessing the check valve thing is on newer stuff and older stuff might be more kitable. Walbro wt20.

*this little craftsman is probably the easiest to work on I’ve ever touched. Least carb wise.

The only check valve I know of is the main nozzle. And they all have one. The other possibility is the check in the purge bubble. It try a new bubble and carb kit first

The Craftsman is likely a Poulan 2300. It's a nice top handle limbing saw with enough room in the handle for a gloved hand. Plenty of snot too. A little odd to start until you get used to it.

The fuel lines usually rot off before the carbs even have a chance to get dirty in those saws. Check the entire length of the line. Oil pump lines rot away as well. Both simple fixes. Great little saws -- usually cheap or free.

Finished up the 066 red light to pair with the milling 660. I'll probably sell the 066, but it has a lot of grunt the 660 doesn't seem to match. Next on the list to fix up is a 460 and 046.
