I have a husqvarna yth24k48 and an older simplicity Regency (both Kohler powered).

Recently, both have began running down the batteries while mowing. Am I right thinking that the stators are giving out on me? Is there a repair I can try, or should I just start working on replacing them?

Thanks.

Remove the flywheel and check the magnets they are glued on and like to come off, I learned the hard way, I bought a charge coil and two voltage regulators before I found the magnet issue. If you need a voltage regulator let me know lol!

Get a multi-meter and take a a/c reading across the two wires coming from the stator while unplugged from the regulator, running at full rpms, should read at least 28 volts.
Do this and tell us the reading.

Well, that was a bust. I pulled out my multimeter, and it had a dead battery. When I went to swap the battery, the terminals pulled right out of the lead:

So, I guess I need to fix my multimeter, so that I can fix my mowers. Such is life.
