Thoughts on Rip Chain Brands and Quality

The Granberg chain has a narrow "scoring tooth" between each full width "cutting tooth". I've read the way is to file the rakers for the scoring tooth 10 thousandths lower (may have this backwards). Anyone tweeked this chain something like this?

Sloughfoot, yep I've run a granberg grind. It's pointless and slow cutting. It also dulls faster. It does help saws like the 881 that lacks low end torque, to keep its rpms in the cut.

I usually file the rakers on most of my chains . Not too much , but you'd be amazed at how nice the chain cuts . Like butter , but be careful , file too much and you'll be in a world of hurt

Only made a couple of cuts with a new one and it did seem slow. I touched up the teeth but didn't check raker depth. Can anything be done to speed it up?

Adjust the rakers height. I also got the winch attachment for the mill. So much easier to crank a lever than trying to push the saw through the cut. It's constant and seems faster

I wouldn't know about an Echo . Never had one. Guess it depends on what grade of saw it is. Commercial or Consumer

Cuts great. The oiler will over-oil a 42" bar. The saw doesn't even notice if it's a ripping chain or not pulls anything.

nice! i have a 3120 and just got a mmws 880 i have to try out with a 60 inch bar.
